Wix has introduced Studio Two, a new AI-native editor that combines visual website design, AI-assisted development and standard React code. But is it just another AI website builder, or could it genuinely change how professional websites are created?
As someone who works with Wix Studio professionally, I'm particularly interested in this development. I enjoy Wix Studio as a platform and its flexibility, but there are still limitations that can make certain design decisions unnecessarily complicated. Studio Two could be a significant step forward.

What is Wix Studio Two?
Studio Two is a completely new editor built on a different technical foundation from the existing Wix Studio. It combines three ways of working:
Visual design: Build and refine websites using an advanced visual canvas.
AI: Use Wix's AI assistant, Aria 2.0, to generate designs, create components and handle complex tasks.
Code: Work directly with standard React code and build custom components.
These approaches are designed to work together. You can start with AI, refine the result visually or edit the underlying code. AI is optional, so you can still build entirely by hand.

More creative freedom
One of my biggest frustrations with traditional website builders is that you're sometimes limited by the components they provide. Take Wix Pro Gallery, for example. It's useful, but you're largely restricted to its predefined layouts and settings. Want a completely different interaction or layout? You often have to find workarounds. The same applies to smaller details, such as maintaining consistent button styles across a website.
Studio Two could change this by allowing designers to create custom React components rather than relying entirely on Wix's built-in elements. This opens up possibilities for more advanced layouts, animations and interactions without having to build an entire website from scratch.
AI and an open development workflow
Aria 2.0 can generate website sections, create custom components, connect data and assist with more complex development tasks. Features such as Skills also allow you to save instructions and workflows to maintain consistency across projects.
Perhaps even more interesting is the React integration. Projects can be exported to continue working in tools such as Claude or Cursor, and externally created projects can be brought back into Studio Two.
This is a significant change for Wix, which has traditionally operated within a relatively closed ecosystem. There are still limitations to what can be exported, particularly when it comes to Wix's native business functionality, but the direction is promising.
My thoughts
I think Studio Two could be one of the most important developments in Wix's history. The current Wix Studio editor is already a capable tool, but there are times when its components, settings and workflows get in the way of what you actually want to create.
Combining visual editing, AI and standard React code could address many of those limitations while retaining the advantages of Wix's ecosystem, including hosting, CMS and business functionality.
I'm particularly interested in seeing how much easier it becomes to create custom components and maintain consistent design systems across websites.
Of course, the announcement is one thing and the actual experience is another. Performance, usability and how well visual editing works alongside custom code remain to be seen. I'm not expecting Studio Two to solve every problem overnight, but I'm certainly looking forward to exploring what it can do.
